It's No Joke is a new 8 minute video training package, with accompanying notes (produced by Schwops Productions), which aims to raise employee awareness of slipping and tripping hazards in the workplace. It also reminds employers and supervisors that they have the prime responsibility for preventing slips and trips, by carrying out risk assessments and taking measures to reduce risks to a minimum. The video will help to meet these responsibilities by creating employee awareness and enlisting their co-operation.

It shows some of the causes of injuries, such as:

    Bad 'housekeeping'
    Carelessness when carrying out duties
Bad choice of protective clothing, including footwear

It demonstrates straightforward remedies, including:

Clearing away hazards from floor spaces and corridors
Warning others of spillages and cleaning them up
Telling others of hazards if you are unable to put them right yourself

It's No Joke will benefit employers when used as part of induction and refresher courses for health and safety training, by reminding all employees of their responsibilities and by helping them to avoid injuries caused by unnecessary and preventable slips and trips. This will save the cost of lost production, absenteeism and sickness payments.
